We were introduced to the Caffrey family through the SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood) Foundation. Lorri Caffrey is the cofounder of the SUDC Foundation, an organization that helps families who have lost a child. It is a place for parents to find support and resources to help them through the most unimaginable time of their lives.
On January 10, 2003, Lorri’s daughter, Jenna, while taking a nap at her daycare died in her sleep. At the hospital, they were able to resuscitate her, but the following day, she died peacefully in Lorri’s arms.
We are so thankful to the Caffrey family for donating a beautiful blue violin to Drew’s Tunes in honor of their daughter, Jenna. Drew’s Tunes donated the violin to Anna’s Place, an organization that we have sponsored since Drew’s passing. Anna’s Place offers a 3-day a week After-school program, a Saturday arts-focused program and a summer camp.
Tierra is a participant of Anna’s Place music education program. She has been playing the violin for 5 years and is one of their advanced students. It was because of her hard work and dedication to the violin that she was the recipient of the Caffrey’s donation.
